Chapter 01 | Eddie The Yeti

At the Mountains of Mystery

The trouble with yeti origin stories is they tend to be shrouded in mystery. Not unlike sightings of the great Sasquatch in question these tales are obscured by foliage, painted by memory, and often fueled by unknown substances of potentially suspect intention. If you really want to know where Eddie is from, you’ll need to find out from the yeti himself. The stories you’ll hear will likely have a common through line that supposes his origins as a mutated mountaineer or an explorer gone mad. At least that’s the prevailing theory on why he’s wearing pants and a hat. We love him because he represents an elusive concept that ROAD iD also chases: Eddie is rare. So rare in fact that if you had an encounter with him you would undoubtedly tell your friends and family about it. At ROAD iD we try every day to give people that same feeling of encountering a brand so rare in it’s commitment to it’s customers they can’t help but share their experience.

A Sketchy Start, A Colorful Future

Eddie’s character development process went like that of a fine forest brew fermented in the stump of a tree, aged to muddy perfection and bottled at its peak. This unique small batch offering includes a dollop of ape, a smidgen of mountaineer, and one pinch of pickled prospector.

From the Rock a Form Emerged

As this terrifying tree of a creature revealed himself to us there was a cuddly huggableness coming through. Eddie has a heart, it beats for inclusive adventures and exploring the unknown with friends and family. His charms are enough to bypass the stinky forest funk for a fuzzy yeti fist bump.

Eddie’s approachable demeanor and darker coat are good signs that he’d probably invite you for dinner rather than eat you for lunch. So the legend goes, there are yetis of arctic origin as well as those from more temperate regions. It's been said that the arctic variety are nocturnal, and a fair bit meaner than their mild climate counterparts. It's best to keep a safe distance from a blue arctic yeti. Honestly though we can’t recommend getting too close to any yeti. The smell alone is enough to insult those with more delicate sensibilities.

The few people that have caught a glimpse of Eddie, all mentioned one thing: he's wearing a ROAD iD. As wild and wolly as he may be, he's still got the yeti fam back at the den awaiting his return after dominating hills on two wheels or nabbing powder runs on the 'ol yeti shred sled.

If you're pushing yourself out there in the unknown you may be lucky enough for Eddie to show up and try to outpace you for a stretch. He's as competetive as he is smelly, and my goodness is he smelly - especially after smoking some slow tourist on his favorite curves.

Have you ever seen a yeti making spaghetti down by the bay? If you have, it was probably Eddie because he’s the only yeti in the known universe to master the dexterity necessary to enjoy the fruits of human technology. This has fueled the rumors of his “mad mountaineer” origins.
